Mission & Purpose:

The Arc Macon (formerly known as Advocacy Resource Center, Inc. – Macon) is a local 501(c)3 organization which supports adults with developmental disabilities, including Autism, Down syndrome, and Cerebral palsy, among others. Founded in 1953 by a group of committed parents seeking to answer the needs of their developmentally disabled children, The Arc Macon continues to support adults with developmental disabilities through residential living options, supported employment and meaningful activities. The purpose of The Arc is to provide adults with developmental disabilities the life skills and an environment to live as independently as possible. Currently we provide the over 70 individuals we serve with living amenities in one of our 15 residential homes or apartments, access to jobs in local businesses, and meaningful activities. We also offer participation in Special Olympics and a week at Summer Camp.

Vision:

To see all individuals we serve with developmental disabilities engage and contribute to their community in meaningful ways through competitive integrated employment, developing relationships, skill development, advocacy, and education.

Values:

The Arc Macon is a team of caring people motivated to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families reach their own personal goals. We believe everyone has the right to be a valued, contributing members of our greater community. Our focus is to provide those we serve with the resources, support, programs, and services needed to attain their highest level of independence regardless of diagnosis, and at all stages of life.
